Real Talk for Real People.

Hey there! I’m Wes (he/him). I’m so glad to meet you on your journey to healing.

Look, I get it. Searching for the right therapist can be overwhelming. You have a lot of options to choose from, so why choose me? Rather than give you a list of my accolades, I’d rather just allow you to get to know me—the authentic me. Then you can decide if I’m the right fit for you.

I became a therapist because going to therapy wasn’t an option when I needed it the most. Growing up as a second-generation Asian American kid in Los Angeles, mental health was not a top priority in my household. Being raised by parents who were born and raised in Taiwan, the mark of success was less about being happy, and more about achievement. In defense of my parents, they did the best they could with what they knew at the time. They were taught that good parenting meant providing their children with all of the necessary resources to ensure that they would be “successful” in life. Since education was the perceived road to success, no expense was spared to further my educational endeavors. Kumon, Mental Math, SAT courses, Mandarin Chinese classes, I was enrolled in it all. Unfortunately, when it came to my mental wellbeing, the primary advice I received was to stay focused on my studies, and to trust that it would all pay off in the end.

As you can imagine, this was not the kind of support I was desperately needing. Consequently, I found myself struggling with bouts of depression and anxiety through junior high and well into high school. Whenever I summoned the courage to bring up my mental health needs to my parents, I was told that I worried too much. To stop it, let it go, and put that energy into my work. If only it were that easy.

This pattern continued until I was well into college. By then, the mental and emotional distress had taken its toll. I had a college degree in a subject that looked great on paper, but meant little to me. I felt utterly lost in life.

This was my turning point. In my quest to discover my purpose in life, I sought out guidance anywhere I could, initially gravitating towards self-help books (before the days of podcasts). Although these were a good start, I quickly realized that if I really wanted to feel in control of my life, I needed to go deeper. Insert therapy. This was it. With the help of therapy, I have navigated through a journey of self-discovery, forgiven my family, made peace with my upbringing, and have learned to lovingly accept and embrace my authentic self— the real me.

My mission now is to help others do the same, to heal their past wounds, and embrace themselves with unconditional love. If you’re ready to love the real you, contact me today.

These are just a few of the things I’ve learned from Therapy:

  • Everyone is entitled to their own feelings and experiences, regardless of whether others agree or disagree.

  • You can heal intergenerational trauma by healing yourself first.

  • Using shame as a method for motivation reinforces low self-worth. When used regularly, this can quickly shift from externalized shame to internalized shame.

  • Failure is a necessary part of the learning process. Perfection is the lowest standard.

  • Emotionality is not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of humanity.

  • We are all fully responsible for how we respond to the world around us. Be at Cause.

Being a therapist is not just a job for me. It is my passion. It is an honor to be given the trust of others, and to help guide them through their healing process. This is a responsibility that I hold in the highest regard. I receive the most joy from empowering my clients to create the life that they want and deserve.
